  • UNCT Retreat 20-21 April 2009, Tripoli , Libya

     

    On the 20th and 21st of April United Nations Country Team in Libya, hosted the second Retreat at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli. Attended by Engineer Mohamed Khaled El-Gwail, Under Secretary of the Secretariat of General People’s Committee for Planning and Finance, other government officials, representatives of all the UN organizations working in Libya, UN representatives from Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia, the IOM and the Africa Development Bank.

     

     

     

  • Press Conference  on Retreat

    On 16th April 2009 a press conference was arranged by UNIC for the RC at UNDP office at 10.00 am to explore the objectives of the Retreat.  On this occasion RC addressed the journalists, outlined the  priorities  of  Retreat  for this year which are capacity building and capacity development, gender, MDGs and human rights.  He insisted to enhance co-ordination with NGOs.   Another highlight was the presentation of the United Nations joint programme “Sabratha Clean City” that aims to promote a better environment to enhance the health and quality of life of Sabratha’s population on a sustainable basis through several projects .

     

     

  • RC addressed the gathering and said Government of Libya shows good response in providing Rights of Women and challenges faced by them. He said representation of women should increase in leadership and work. He alarmed that there are indications of some gender based violence in country, discrimination and harassment of girls is also reported.
